Black History Post 2

Right back at you kids. This time I am going to blog about a little known black 'militant' named Rob Williams. Automatically when you hear that word you instantly think violence. Names like Malcolm X and Huey P. Newton come to mind. This is exactly what the government wants you to think. However, you never hear about all of the positive things the Black Panthers did as a political party. The Black Panther Party for Self Defense began after school programs for inner city children qnd when the Los Angeles police department began to get rough with black citizens and not protect them, they got their own guns and protected their neighborhoods, only getting violent when forced too. I digress.

Rob Williams actually wrote a book Negroes with Guns that inspired the Black Panther party. As stated here.

"Robert F. Williams died October 15th, 1996. His funeral was attended by Rosa Parks, among others. He was among the most important and influential figures in the tradition of African American armed self defense. An ex-Marine and leader of the NAACP chapter in Monroe, North Carolina, he was expelled by the NAACP for his views in 1959. He led a fight by African Americans in the late 50s and early 60s to defend themselves, with guns when necessary, from Ku Klux Klan violence"

I recently saw a PBS special on this man and I found it very interstice. I had never even heard of him. If anyone would like to see the documentary, please contact me and I can make you can borrow it from me. Get familiar!
