The Best Book Ever!!

I have wondered about this for some time now. Why is it that every book that comes out is always on the NY Times bestseller list? I fail to understand how just about every book is on it. How many copies do you have to sell to make this list. Furthermore, I know for a fact that not that many people read books. They are for chumps and nothing smart ever came out of one.
